From its very first vintage, which won gold and the coveted Marquis de Goulaine Trophy for  ‘Best Sauvignon Blanc of the Competition’ at the 1991 International Wine & Spirit Competition in London, Oyster Bay has continued to define the very stature and style of New Zealand wines.  More recently leading London wine writer, Giles Kime described Oyster Bay  as “pretty close to being the elusive stuff of dreams”.

The philosophy of Oyster Bay is to produce fine, distinctly regional wines that are elegant and assertive with glorious fruit flavours”.
Michael Ivicevich, Winemaker

Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, this is an elegant wine with finesse and a touch of minerality. Gentle handling and early harvesting preserves the assertive Chardonnay fruit characters, while the lively bubbles bring to life the delightful and refreshing character.

Dish recommends: This is the ideal match for creamy, egg-based dishes like crème brulée or brunch-style classics like croissants and omelettes. Also superb with fresh oysters.

Pale straw green in colour with brilliant clarity, Oyster Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is zesty and aromatic with lots of lively fruit characters. A concentration of assertive passion fruit and tropical fruit flavours with an abundant bouquet, it is a wine that is always crisp, elegant and refreshing.

Dish recommends: Crisp Sauvignon Blanc is an ideal partner for white fish, and dishes with fresh herbs or zesty lemon. Great with goat’s cheese and it also cuts through creamy seafood risottos and
pastas perfectly.

chardonnay-mediumOyster Bay Marlborough ChardonnayBright citrus with hints of stone-fruit, stunning fruit concentration accentuated with a creamy texture and sublime zesty lime undertones.

Concentrated aromas and flavours of ripe citrus and stone-fruit, balanced with subtle oak, and a creamy texture to finish. A sublime expression of fruit purity from Marlborough’s unique cool climate and soils.

Dish recommends: A perfect match with juicy roast chicken or turkey, sweet crayfish, or anything featuring kumara, pumpkin or sweet squash.

pinot-noir-mediumOyster Bay Marlborough Pinot NoirFragrant cherry, ripe black plum and red berry fruits accentuated with seductive savory notes and svelte tannins.

Oyster Bay Marlborough Pinot Noir is elegant cool climate pinot noir at its best. Fragrant, soft and flavourful with aromas of ripe cherries, plums and gentle sweet fruit tannins to provide serious structure and length.

Dish recommends: Pinot is perfect with gamey meats such as duck, pheasant, quail, or venison – even rabbit and hare. It’s the ideal partner for lamb too.

merlot-mediumOyster Bay Hawke’s Bay MerlotCaptivating fragrant cherry, berry fruits and black plum, with beautifully integrated spice and alluring fine grained tannins.

With Hawke’s Bays temperate maritime climate, the vines are warmed by strong sunlight by day, and cooled by Pacific Ocean sea breezes by night. This unique environment yields vibrant, fully ripened varietal flavours. Essentially Oyster Bay Merlot is about elegance and intensity of fruit. The hero is always freshness of ripe fruit, spice and soft tannins on the palate.

Dish recommends: Merlot is at home with the most delicate, rare beef and lamb dishes right through to chunky, spaghetti Bolognese and spicy, meaty pizzas.  Superb with chargrilled ribs and Shepherd’s pie.
